|| Greetings

Cancer probably has been existed throughout the history of mankind.

Even in the 21st century, cancer is considered to be one of the most unconquerable diseases causing the highest death rate. Major methodologies treating cancer include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. Even in the U.S., the rate of complete cure through these treatments does not exceed 50%. Side effects associated with these treatments and metastasis frequently observed after treatment remain as main research topics.
In many countries, the cases of application of complementary and alternative medicine have significantly increased. According to Journal of Clinical Oncology (2000), 83% of cancer patients were being provided with medical treatment as well as various types of alternative therapy.
Among various types of alternative therapy, oriental medicine is regarded as the best complementary and alternative medicine because of its wide range of medicine and therapeutic methods, which have been established for over a thousand years. East-West Cancer Center (EWCC) was established in 1991 to offer complementary and alternative medical treatment on the basis of oriental medicine for cancer patients. Through extensive researches, anti-cancer drugs have been developed and proven to be successful.

Based on clinical researches and tests conducted over for 10 years, EWCC is currently focusing on the following research topics:
1. East-West Plus Cancer Treatment for reducing side-effects, strengthening immune systems, and increasing anti-cancer effects for the patients being provided with main stream medical treatments such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
2. Anti-angiogenesis and immunotherapy for the prevention of metastasis and recurrence for cancer-cured patients
3. Wheel balance therapy for frail or older cancer patients for main stream medical treatment to enhance overall health and treat cancer instead of target cancer treatment.

EWCC will continue to use all the resources and experiences to develop effective anti-cancer drugs based on scientific verification up to the time cancer is finally conquered.

|| Introduction of East-West Cancer Center

East-West Cancer Center was established in 1991, as the first oriental medical cancer center attached to a university hospital in Rep. of Korea. East-West Cancer Center is currently located at Dunsan Oriental Hospital of Daejeon University.

Ever since appointed by the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs as an organization for developing oriental-western cancer treatment technologies in 2005, the East-West Cancer Center has been recognized as the most preeminent integrated oncology center in Korea. It was the first institution in Korea to acquire US National Cancer Institute (NCI) certification of best case series program in 2007. In 2008, it influenced the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to launch programs in the development of cancer treatment technologies through oriental medicine. East-West Cancer Center is also developing policies for infrastructures for cancer treatment.

Until recently, East-West Cancer Center has published many scientific papers on international and domestic journals. Moreover, the center has taken steps to become a global integrative oncology center by establishing academic exchange programs with MD Anderson Cancer Center, City of Hope Hospital in USA, Beijing Guanganmen Hospital, Shanghai TCM University Hospital, Shanghai Fudan University Cancer Hospital in China, ANTI-CANCER HERBAL MEDICINE Research Center (ACHM) in Israel.

In clinical treatment, we move as a team, which consists of not only integrative medical oncologists but also nurses specialized in oncology, pharmacists, nutritionists, physical therapists and clinical trial coordinators etc. The team works in a system in which patients' psychological, physical, social and spiritual health is integratively managed.
